About WorkFree

Honest numbers for one of life's biggest decisions

WorkFree exists to answer a single question without spin: can you actually afford to quit your job? Not whether you should, not whether you are brave enough, but whether the money works. Everything here, the calculators, the guides, the templates, is built to turn that question into numbers you can plan around.

Why WorkFree exists

Most people who regret leaving a job did not misjudge the job. They misjudged the money: how fast savings drain once the paycheck stops, what health cover really costs when an employer stops paying for it, how long a job search actually takes in a soft market. The advice online tends to sit at two extremes, either "follow your passion and the money will follow" or "never quit without another offer," and neither helps you decide your own case.

WorkFree takes the middle, practical path. The tools do transparent arithmetic on numbers you provide. The guides explain the trade-offs in plain language, and flag where the rules differ across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Ireland. The aim is not to talk you into quitting or out of it. It is to make sure that whatever you decide, you decide it with the real figures in front of you.

Who is behind it

WorkFree is founded and edited by Shahzad Arsi. The project grew out of a simple frustration: when he looked for a clear, honest answer to "can I afford to leave," he found slogans and sales funnels instead of math. So he built the opposite, a site where every formula is published, every assumption is stated, and nothing asks for your email before it helps you.

Shahzad sets the editorial direction, reviews the calculators and guides for accuracy and clarity, and keeps the content current as rules and costs change. You can reach him or follow his work through his LinkedIn profile, which is also the verified identity behind the author byline you will see across the guides.

How our content is made

Transparent math

Every calculator runs published formulas on numbers you enter. The method and limitations sit under each tool and on the methodology page. Nothing is a black box.

Written by a person, for people

Guides are written in plain English by a named editor, not auto-generated filler. They cover real trade-offs, including the cases where the honest answer is "not yet."

Country-aware

Where notice rules, health cover, payouts, or benefits differ by country, we say so rather than assuming everyone lives in the same place.

Reviewed and dated

Pages carry a last-updated date and are revised as costs and rules move. Our full standards live in the editorial policy.

What WorkFree is not

WorkFree is an educational planning resource, not a financial, legal, or tax adviser. The calculators produce estimates from the figures you type, and they cannot see your full situation, your contract, or your country's fine print. For decisions with real money or legal weight, treat our output as a starting point and confirm it with a qualified professional. How we handle your data is covered in the privacy policy; nothing you enter into a calculator is stored or sent anywhere.
